More about Lysette
Educated at the School of St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon; Leicester and Reading Universities, Lysette has lived in historic Henley on Thames, famous for its international Royal Regatta, since 1990. She has taught children aged 4 to 18 for 20 years in 3 different schools, two in Oxfordshire. During this time she was variously Director of Music, Head of Department, supply teacher and part-time assistant teacher. Being in schools, and also setting up the North Bracknell Stagecoach Theatre School gave her many opportunities to use her musical talents to encourage children to grow and express themselves. She wrote 7 musicals, many school anthems and arranged music for different groups as diverse as 5 part choirs and steel bands.
In 1993 she formed and performed in a 3 girl, close part harmony singing group known as Eastwick and arranged old jazz standards such Cry Me a River, Lullaby of Birdland and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square. Eastwick played to packed audiences at the Kenton Theatre in Henley which celebrated its 200th birthday in 2005. Lysette was commissioned to write the anthem which was then performed at a number of venues including for TV, to commemorate the theatre, which is the fourth oldest working theatre in the country.
She is very proud of her links with this, her favourite theatre, where she has performed many roles including Jenny Lind in Barnum, Lucy Lockett in Chorus of Disapproval, ticket lady and seat usher. More recently she was MD of Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables which won a prestigious award for its chorus work.
