Gambling Addiction Hypnotherapy

Are you concerned that you or someone close to you is hooked on gambling? Has it changed from being an occasional innocent flutter, to a financially draining habit?

It could be that your gambling has stopped being a bit of harmless fun and is beginning to have a negative effect on relationships with those you love. Maybe you realise that you're spending more time and more money gambling than you used to? Are you always short of money?

Sounds Positive can help. We offer self-help, one-to-ones and workshops to help get you where you want to be.

The Sounds Positive Stop Gambling self-help programme can help you quickly reassess your relationship with gambling, whether it is on the dogs, horses, other sports, online or gambling at a casino.

The Sounds Positive downloadable self-help programmes include written and audio downloads consisting of information, advice and exercises, using the latest research in the fields of Neuroscience, Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, EFT and NLP to create highly effective Cognitive Hypnotherapy treatments.

  • The audio track is an Automatic, Unconscious Learning (AUL) experience, designed to be heard once a day for a month. It lasts 20 minutes and is deeply relaxing. Many people listen to it to help them nod off to sleep as it continues to work beautifully as you dream away.
  • Because we learn more easily while in a deep state of relaxation, the ideal learning state, the brain is encouraged to relax by following the specifically designed musical frequencies embedded in the track. This is called brain entrainment.
  • Full instructions are included, along with tips and suggestions.
  • We also teach you the technique of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and how you can apply it specifically to help you stop gambling, and to greatly enhance and accelerate the process of learning and change.
  • We give you invaluable top tips and advice about how to achieve your goal, as well as pointing out the mistakes most people make that contribute to the problem.

"I could have gambled on Friday. But I didn't. I usually get urges on Saturday night. But I didn't. I would have made excuses to gamble on Sunday after seeing my sick mum, but I didn't. I could easily make time today or tomorrow, but I don't want to. What has happened? This is unimaginable or was absolutely not what I would have expected. You cannot imagine the feeling of freedom I have."

"It was hard to admit I had a problem, but when I did, it was the start of changing my life for the better. Cognitive Hypnotherapy was a turning point for me. I've never looked back."

Did you know that when an element of risk is involved, the brain releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter that produces euphoria? As with drug addiction, and high risk sports, people gamble because they enjoy the increased levels of dopamine. Moreover, it can become addictive.

What's more, some experiments with rhesus macaque monkeys at Duke University in America, in which they were given the option of gambling to receive awards of fruit juice, have shown that they overwhelmingly preferred to gamble even when the odds were stacked against them. Even with a string of losses, the high of the occasional win kept them gambling for their reward of juice, rather than go for the guaranteed juice-win option.

For our ancient ancestors hunting for food, it paid to gamble. In fact, without gambling none would have survived. If, for example, it was necessary to search forty places for one chance of finding edible fruit, it would have made no sense to stop after one or two goes. However, looking in forty places is fine when the terrain is safe. Achieving that big win is just a matter of time.

So it's part of our survival mechanism to gamble, and betting companies who play on that also put a lot of effort into making the terrain appear safe. However, in reality, it is high-risk and low-yield, especially the longer you play. They couldn't continue in business if they hadn't worked out their enticing formula very carefully, making you believe that a big win is just round the corner, while at the same time, fleecing you of your money. How many times have you heard yourself think, 'Just one more go and I'll win everything back?' Statistically it just isn't going to happen. You're simply throwing yet more money away.

Worse still you can get into that self-destructive cycle of needing that win to make up for, and cover up all the stupid, mindless losses you've manifested. You just don't seem to know how to stop gambling. You feel like you have to keep going. Any minute now it'll all come good. But it never does, does it? The betting companies understand full well your psychology: your desire to make it big; to get something for nothing; just for once, for some money to come your way without having to work for it; to rebel against the oppression of rising costs of living, taxes, your disappointments and dissatisfaction with life.

Yet while you're riding that wave of excitement and anticipation, you're able to escape those realities of your life. Those disappointments. Your dissatisfaction. Gambling gives you an opportunity to zone out, to live in fantasy, to get some relief from the stress and strain of life, at least for as long as you can prolong the illusion.

But illusion is what it is. What happens when you are forced back to reality? How do you feel when you've lost again?

And how will your life look in 10 years from now? Will you still have meaningful, loving relationships with your partner, spouse, children; the rest of your family? What about friends? Are they still there for you? Or will you, like the majority of gamblers, be looking at separation, divorce, resentment and anger from your family? Will you have lost your house or your job, as so many gamblers do? Are your friends still around, or have they given up trying to help?

Will you be feeling good about yourself, 10 years from now? Or will all remnants of self-esteem and self-respect be shot away?

Get help now. Don't let it go on and on. Turn your life around and get Sounds Positive's alternative treatment for compulsive gambling. You really can do something about it.
