What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a highly effective way to treat a range of conditions, many of which diminish our quality of life, and which the mainstream medical establishment often struggles to handle effectively.
Created by the Quest Institute’s Trevor Silvester, Cognitive Hypnotherapy is very different from traditional hypnotherapy. It uses recent research and discoveries from Evolutionary Psychology, Cognitive Theory, Positive Psychology, NLP and Hypnosis, to create a framework for therapy. Wordweaving is used (also designed by Trevor Silvester) which is a very powerful method of creating hypnotic language patterns using information learned from the client and delivered according to how that individual most easily processes and learns new information.

Respected research, brought together in a combined study in 1982, established that cognitive and hypnotherapy approaches are by far the most effective. By combining them into Cognitive Hypnotherapy, Sounds Positive is able to produce amazing results.
Since that time, further consistent development and the experience of positive treatment of thousands of people has helped refine Cognitive Hypnotherapy and ensure it remains at the forefront in terms of providing quick, effective and long-lasting solutions for individuals in all walks of life.
The study, The Benefits of Psychotherapy (1982) by Smith et al., is probably the most influential study in the history of psychotherapy research. It is still widely referenced by other studies.
What’s it like?
Working one-to-one with a fully qualified Cognitive Hypnotherapist you’ll experience rapid and positive results by using both your conscious and your unconscious mind.
One-to-one sessions, the first being two hours, includes time to explore the root of the problem as well as to begin the process of change. If necessary, further, often shorter sessions complete the programme. These may be weekly or set further apart depending on your needs and resources.
The purpose of this service is to work with you individually; to go rapidly to the underlying cause of your particular problem and deal with that quickly and effortlessly using the infinite wealth of your unconscious mind. In this way, you receive individual attention and tailor-made resources and tools to enable you to deal with those challenges yourself in future.
In each session, by talking and answering questions, you the client, will describe the challenge you want to overcome. Your feedback, between sessions, will form part of the information used. Also, in each session, you will be led, through NLP, EFT, Life Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Hypnotherapy for example, to develop an alternative approach which gives you more freedom and power to let go of the problem.
Clients report feeling completely relaxed, safe and comfortable. They are often astonished and relieved to let go effortlessly of problems which have been clouding so much of their lives. As a consequence, they often look younger, lighter and freer even after the first session.
